"I’ve Got Just About Everything" CD Release

Laura Anglade is a young Montreal-based jazz vocalist currently making a name for herself on the Montreal scene and beyond. Originally from a small village in the south of France and raised in Connecticut, Laura is influenced by her parents’ gypsy jazz and classical backgrounds. At just 23 years old, she has made a big impression on the jazz scene within the last couple of years and performed at Merrickville's Jazz Fest last October to a very enthusiastic audience.

Laura is set to release her debut CD entitled "I’ve Got Just About Everything" at the end of June and will be on a week-long tour to promote the CD and meet new audiences. Laura has recently signed with Justin Time Records in Montreal. “We are very pleased to welcome up-and-coming jazz vocalist Laura Anglade to the Justin Time roster”, said founder and president Jim West. Laura’s recording and touring quintet features excellent musicians from Montreal including Jonathan Chapman on double bass, Sam Kirmayer on guitar and Valérie Lacombe on drums — all of whom appeared with Laura at Merrickville’s Jazz Fest last year — and Masashi Usui on tenor saxophone.

When Laura digs emotionally and eloquently into a standard, her story-telling abilities portray a soul beyond her years: audiences are simply captivated by Laura. “I had a wonderful time performing at Merrickville’s Jazz Fest last year,” said Laura, “and I'm delighted to return to the Baldachin with this project." Don’t miss the chance to see a future jazz star in the making during this limited tour. The Baldachin Inn is one of the few locations in Ontario to host this special event and Laura now has a lot of fans in Merrickville so reserve your seat early!

JAM SESSION ANIMé PAR ALEX BELLEGARDE TRIO

Alex Bellegarde’s dynamic Tuesday jam session has become one of Montreal’s hippest weekly jazz events. The first set fires up with Bellegarde and his trio, playing host to a range of well known talents from the Montreal scene as well as musicians from out of town. The jam opens in the second set, to any jazz musician with the confidence to step up and play…there’s an unspoken rule though: “If you can’t keep up, you shouldn’t be on stage”. A great place to play and chill…. the jam continues on into the early hours!
